Dolphins S Delmas carted off, suffers torn ACL

Aug 18, 2017 - 7:56 PM Miami Dolphins safety Louis Delmas went down in practice with a torn ACL in his right knee, according to reports Wednesday.

The torn ACL is Delmas' second to the same knee he had surgically reconstructed less than 10 months ago. He was scheduled to undergo an MRI to confirm the initial diagnosis.

The injury came in non-contact fashion during a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers. The former Detroit Lions standout was carted off the field.

Delmas, 28, signed with the Dolphins last offseason and started in 12 of his 13 appearances. He registered 63 tackles, one sack, one interception and three passes defensed before tearing his ACL in Week 14. He played his first five seasons with the Lions.

Delmas was the second player to be carted off the field with a knee injury during the Panthers-Dolphins joint practice, following No. 1 Carolina receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who crumbled to the ground clutching his left knee.
