NFL Note - Los Angeles Chargers Rivers, Philip
Sep 18, 2017 - 7:06 AM QB Philip Rivers was 31 of 39 for 282 yards with a touchdown. But it wasn't enough as the Chargers sunk to 9-25 in their past two-plus seasons.Rivers' lone touchdown was a record-setter, however, as TE Antonio Gates caught it for his 112th career touchdown. That score snapped his tie with Tony Gonzalez for the NFL record for tight ends.
"It was awesome," Rivers said. "Too bad it didn't happen in a win. but it was awesome. It's a lot of touchdowns, a lot of years, a lot of tight ends that have played in this league. Certainly a special accomplishment for him."
Rivers has had a hand in 85 of those touchdowns, the most ever by a quarterback-tight end tandem.
No one has shouted yet.
