Raiders, Lynch show off early Dance Mode

Sep 19, 2017 - 3:56 AM ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The victory dance came with 12:49 to play. That's how badly the Oakland Raiders beat the New York Jets Sunday.

The moves came courtesy of Marshawn Lynch, playing before his hometown crowd for the first time in a regular-season game as a Raider. He scored his first touchdown -- a 2-yard run late in the first half -- and gained 45 yards on 12 carries.

But the sellout crowd really got into it when Lynch broke into a dance along the sideline during a break in play. Even head coach Jack Del Rio, also an East Bay product from nearby Hayward, was impressed.

"It was exceptional," Del Rio said with a laugh. "I was actually very inspired. I was going to go join him. I thought it was best if I just stayed back and continued to coach. It got me fired up. You can see the pure passion that he has.

"These are his people. These are my people. I know he was really happy to have his first game go like that. We got him in the end zone. He was rugged and our team played really well. It was a great day for him."

The Raiders thoroughly dominated the Jets in all three phases. A balanced offense saw Derek Carr complete 23 of 28 passes for 230 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

All three touchdown passes went to Michael Crabtree, from distances of 2, 26 and 1 yard. Carr was not sacked.

On the ground, the Raiders ran for 180 yards on 27 carries and a pair of long-distance scoring runs, from Cordarrelle Patterson (43 yards) and Jalen Richard (52 yards).

The defense recovered a fumble and a special teams play helped swing the game in the Raiders favor just before halftime.

New York totaled only 271 yards of total offense.

"Good stuff," Del Rio said. "Obviously, things to correct, but we'll do that with a smile this week getting ready for Washington."

--Cornerback Gareon Conley debuted for the Raiders and broke up a deep pass from Jets quarterback Josh McCown intended for Jermaine Kearse, batting the ball in the air. Free safety Reggie Nelson nearly came up with the interception.

"Just going out and making a play for my team, it felt real good," Conley said. "I felt like I could have picked it."

Said head coach Jack Del Rio, "I thought he played well. They tried him early, defended that ball, nearly intercepted it. From the view I had, it looked like he was productive for us. He did a nice job."
