Brady, Nelson among Week 2 players of Week

Sep 20, 2017 - 3:15 PM New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week after passing for 447 yards and three touchdowns in the 36-20 win against the New Orleans Saints

It is the 28th time in Brady's career that he received the weekly honor, moving out of a tie with Peyton Manning for the most in NFL history. Brady completed 30 of 39 passes on Sunday and established an NFL record with his 52nd game with three or more touchdowns and no interceptions.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver J.J. Nelson took the NFC offensive award for Week 2, announced by the league on Wednesday, for his performance in the 16-13 overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts. He caught five passes for 120 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown reception and a 31-yard catch that set up the game-tying field goal with under four minutes remaining in regulation.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week after recording three sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception in the 27-20 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Atlanta Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant took home the NFC defensive honor for two game-changing plays in the 34-23 win against the Green Bay Packers. Trufant picked off Aaron Rodgers in the final minute of the second quarter to set up a touchdown just before halftime and then returned a fumble for a TD in the third quarter.

Miami Dolphins kicker Cody Parkey was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after making four field goals, including the game-winner from 54 yards out with and 1:05 left, in the 19-17 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

The NFC special teams award went to Detroit Lions punt returner Jamal Agnew, who returned a punt 88 yards for a touchdown with 12:56 left in the fourth quarter of the 24-10 win against the New York Giants on Monday night.
