Redskins lose Kelley, Compton for season

Nov 16, 2017 - 6:15 PM The Washington Redskins will be without running back Rob Kelley and linebacker Will Compton for the remainder of the season.

Kelley and Compton were both placed on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday, the team announced.

Additionally, the Redskins signed defensive lineman Caraun Reid and running back Byron Marshall and waived defensive lineman Brandon Banks and defensive lineman Tavaris Barnes from the practice squad.

Kelley sustained a high-ankle sprain and sprained his left MCL in Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. Meanwhile, Compton sustained a Lisfranc sprain during the same game.

Compton shared about his injury on an Instagram post.

"Reflection -- Just when I thought the adversity was slowing down, it came back for a little more! After a defining moment for myself, in Seattle, I realized what a blessing this year has been. Persevering thru some things and proving myself right (not necessarily others wrong) was the simple focus, day in and day out. I have too many ppl (people) to mention that's played a role in keeping that focus. And that support system makes it easy in times like this. I'm eager to overcome this setback, once again, and get back out on the field with my brothers. #UndefeatedAgainstAdversity"

Compton had a season-high nine tackles and his lone interception against the Seahawks on Nov. 5.

Kelley, 25, had rushed for 194 yards and three touchdowns on 62 carries this season. The 28-year-old Compton compiled 19 tackles, one interception and three passes defensed.
