NFL Note - Cleveland Browns Colquitt, Britton

Dec 14, 2017 - 9:39 AM P Dustin Colquitt nearly saw his streak of consecutive punts without a block come to an end Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Linebacker Shilique Calhoun shot through up the middle and got a hand on the fourth-quarter punt, which rolled to a stop after a net of 13 yards.

Special teams coordinator Dave Toub said linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis suffered an injury that knocked him off the punt coverage team.

"We had A-gap pressure, it was the center and the right guard," Toub said. "We had a change in personnel - 57 got banged up - we had a new guy in there, a little miscommunication and a little pressure. Got a hand on it, fortunately it wasn't a block."

The ball advanced past the line of scrimmage, which means it does not go down as a blocked kick. That means Colquitt extended his streak of punts without a block to 361 kicks, which reaches back to the 2013 season. Louie Aguiar holds the franchise record with 377 punts without a block from 1994 to 1998.

Toub expressed relief that Colquitt kept the streak going before superstition overcame him.

"I don't even know about a streak, I don't even want to hear about it," Toub said. "That's the kiss of death when you start talking streaks."
