Reports: Jaguars RB Fournette will sit out with quad injury

Dec 17, 2017 - 2:43 AM Jacksonville Jaguars starting running back Leonard Fournette will not play in Sunday's game against the Houston Texans because of a quad injury, multiple media outlets reported Saturday. The Jaguars have not officially ruled Fournette out for the game but he has not practiced all week and was listed as questionable on Friday.

The Jaguars are preparing backup Chris Ivory to start in Fournette's place, and T.J. Yeldon is likely to get some carries as well. NFL.com reported Fournette is expected to be ready to play in next week's game against the San Francisco 49ers. Fournette was injured in the third quarter of last Sunday's victory over Seattle. Fournette stayed in the game and finished with 101 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Fournette missed two games midway through the season, and the Jaguars won both, beating Indianapolis and Cincinnati.

Fournette rushed for 100 yards in the Jaguars' 29-7 victory over Houston in both teams' regular-season opener. Fournette has 923 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns on 231 attempts in his rookie season. He trails only Kansas City's Kareem Hunt (1,046) among rookies in rushing yards.
