NFL Power Rankings: Week 11 (2021)

When the calendar flips to November and the NFL calendar starts hitting double-digits weeks, the contenders should begin separating from the pretenders. But that really hasn’t happened this year. Some teams look fantastic one week and completely inept the next, while others ascend to the top of the rankings, only to suffer a brutal loss that sends them back down the table.

This week, the Cardinals got wrecked by the Panthers, but they’ll get a pass without Kyler Murray. The Buccaneers are in the midst of an uncharacteristic skid, dropping both the game heading into their bye week as well as this weekend’s game coming out of their bye. The Ravens also confusingly fell to the one-win Dolphins on Thursday night, keeping the AFC North wide open for any of the four teams. And the Rams looked hapless for the second-straight week, this time against San Francisco.

On the flip side, the Cowboys bounced back from a puzzling loss last week to destroy the Falcons, the Bills snapped out of their funk to top the Jets, and are the Patriots already back? Check out where all 32 teams fall in this week’s edition of NFL power rankings.

NFL Power Rankings Week 11

Big Movers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
By the time the Buccaneers take the field on Monday night against the Giants, it will have been an entire month since they've won a game. Yes, there's a bye week mixed in there, but the two losses were to Trevor Siemian and Taylor Heinicke - two backups. The defense has been spotty all year, but the offense looked particularly bad against Washington. They're a little banged up, and they'll be fine as long as Tom Brady is at the helm, but they need to have a vintage Buccaneers offensive output against New York to put the fans' minds at ease.

Kansas City Chiefs
Since getting completely dismantled by the Titans, the Chiefs have reeled off three straight wins. Sure, they were against the Giants, Jordan Love and the Packers, and whatever is left of the Raiders, but they just need to compile as many wins as possible at this point. They still don't look good by their standards, but Sunday night was a huge step in the right direction. Patrick Mahomes is starting to take more of what the defense gives him, and Kansas City's defense has actually stopped being a total liability.

Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta's four wins were probably the weakest four wins you could possibly put together on an NFL schedule. But hey, they won, so give them credit. However, despite the 4-4 record coming into this week, the Falcons are still a bad football team, and their glaring weaknesses were on full display in Dallas. The Cowboys absolutely thrashed Atlanta by 40, and if you can believe it - it could have been even worse.

Random Musings

Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers made plenty of headlines over the last week and a half, but he's back and when he's playing at a high level, there are few better quarterbacks in the history of football. Sunday obviously wasn't his best performance, not by a longshot as he was only activated off the COVID list on Saturday, but he did just enough to win the game as the Packers continue to roll. Green Bay's defense has been much better of late as well, and they pitched a shutout today after holding the Chiefs to 13 points the week prior. If this defense keeps it up, watch out NFC.

Buffalo Bills
I'm not totally sure what's been going on in Buffalo, but it hasn't been good. They lost a heartbreaker in Tennessee, came out of their bye and looked pretty lackluster against Miami, and then lost 9-6 to the Jaguars. They needed a get-right game and what better team to get right against than the Jets? Josh Allen essentially played three quarters, but that's all Buffalo needed. Their defense was swarming, the offense clicked after a bit of a slow start, and the Bills looked like they got their swagger back. Don't look now though, Bills fans. The Patriots are just a half-game back in the AFC East.

Carolina Panthers
Since their blazing 3-0 start, the Panthers have been pretty bad on both sides of the ball - just 2-5 in their last seven games. Quarterback has been the focal point of the struggles, as Sam Darnold has turned back into the Jets version of Sam Darnold and P.J. Walker has looked nothing like the star of the XFL. Enter an old friend: Cam Newton. Newton only took seven snaps, but that's all he needed to put 14 points on the board for Carolina. As he proclaimed to the Arizona crowd: he's back.
