NFL Playoffs Futures: Best Bets in the AFC (2022)

No more than three games stand between every team in the NFL playoffs and a chance at bringing home the coveted Vince Lombardi trophy in less than a month’s time. To get things started, 12 teams are in action this week for the Wild Card weekend stretching from Saturday into Monday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the action and see where the value remains for a three-team parlay.

Tennesee Titans – Lose in Championship Round | +165  at DK Sportsbook

Located under Team Futures > Stage of Elimination, winning this bet would mean the Titans make the AFC Championship game, and lose. While the Titans will likely get the Patriots, Raiders, or Bengals in their Divisional Round game, all teams they should be able to handle at home; the Championship game is where my concern comes in.

Likely drawing the Chiefs, this is a different team than what they saw (and handled them) back in October. Despite winning four of their final games, the Titans beat up on the likes of Jacksonville and Houston, narrowly avoiding disaster in their last game of the season beating the Texans by a field goal.

While the return of Derrick Henry certainly won’t hurt, it’s not realistic he’ll be back in game shape within just the two games it would take to reach the Super Bowl. When it comes to quarterback matchups, Ryan Tannehill is probably my last choice against the likes of Mahomes, Allen, or even Burrow.

AFC Conference Winner – Kansas City Chiefs | +175 at DK Sportsbook

In addition to being bearish on the Titans for all the reasons above, I’m very Bullish on the Chiefs going the distance yet again this season and reaching the Super Bowl for the third year in a row. After a slow start that saw them slide to 3-4 with their October loss to the Titans, the Chiefs lost just one game the remainder of the season, a January 2nd road game at the Bengals.

While they didn’t get the bye, I expect they’ll be able to rest many of their starters in the second half of the Steelers game this weekend, and for the most part are already as healthy as any team in the conference.

With a passing defense allowing 245 yards per game to rank in the bottom 20% of the league, expect Mahomes to carve up the Titans in the AFC Championship game and setup a shot at his second Super Bowl in three seasons.
