Dalton Schultz ‘frustrated’ by negotiations, won’t attend OTAs

Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz won’t attend the remainder of voluntary OTAs. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that Schultz, who was franchise tagged in March, is “frustrated by the state of contract talks.” If an extension isn’t reached by July 15th, the tight end’s $10.931 million salary for 2022 will be locked in. Fantasy Impact: Schultz had a fabulous, career-best 2021 campaign in the Dallas system. He caught 78 passes for 808 yards and eight touchdowns, supplanting Blake Jarwin in the Cowboys’ offense and finishing as the TE3 in fantasy football. Going forward, he is understandably seeking a new deal that rewards him for his great emergence. Recently, the Browns gave David Njoku a four-year, $56.75 million extension, perhaps setting a baseline for both Schultz and Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki, who is also franchise tagged. Heading into 2022, Schultz ranks as the TE7, according to ECR.

Jarvis Landry “dominating” Saints OTAs

According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Jarvis Landry has impressed during the Saints’ OTAs. Underwood cited Landry’s production during practice, physicality, and attitude as things that have stuck out during the Saints’ early offseason program. (Source: CBS Sports)

Fantasy Impact: Landry has been a consistent fantasy producer throughout his eight-year career, but he has seemed to be underappreciated as a fantasy asset as of late. Landry has never finished worse than a WR3 in PPR formats in any season that he has played more than 12 games, yet he’s currently ranked as the 56th WR heading into 2022 according to FantasyPros ECR. He’s an excellent floor WR in PPR formats, but he also has upside, having finished as a WR1 three times in his career. Landry does have competition within the Saints’ WR room between Michael Thomas and Chris Olave, but Thomas hasn’t been a factor on the field in two seasons and Olave is a rookie who will need to adjust to NFL competition. It wouldn’t be surprising, especially considering early practice reports, if Landry were to be the top WR for the Saints this season, and if that does come to fruition, he will be a big draft day steal for fantasy managers.

Saquon Barkley to see more involvement as a receiver

Saquon Barkley said he expects to be more involved in the receiving game this season. (Source: Josina Anderson on Twitter)

Impact: “It feels like a fresh start,” Barkley told Josina Anderson on his outlook under new head coach Brian Daboll. “I feel good again. I know it’s all there. I know how talented I am. Just taking it one day at a time. You feel the energy out here doing different things.” After catching 91 passes his rookie season, he has combined for just 99 receptions the past three seasons. It all comes down to health for Barkley and now that he is over a year recovered from his torn ACL, he’ll look to rebound in a big way this season for the Giants offense and fantasy managers.
