NFL Week 3 Player Prop Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday Night Football (2022)

Sep 25, 2022 - 7:00 PM

The San Francisco 49ers will head to Denver to take on the Broncos in a cross-conference matchup for Sunday Night Football. While Russell Wilson has been underwhelming to start his Broncos career, he will look to make an impact in Week Three’s primetime matchup. Here are my favorite prop bets for Sunday night’s game.

NFL Week 3 Player Prop Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday Night Football (2022)

Courtland Sutton Over 57.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

Last season, Courtland Sutton was fairly disappointing from a statistical standpoint. Finishing with a statline of just 58/776/2, not much was expected heading into 2022. That was until the Broncos traded for star quarterback, Russell Wilson. While Russell Wilson may not look like his old self to start the season, he is able to provide Sutton with enough volume to be productive. In just two games this season, Sutton has received 18 targets, hauling in 11 of them. Those 11 receptions have produced a total of 194 yards so far, eclipsing the 57.5 marks in both games (72 and 122). Sutton’s lack of production in 2021 was largely due from bottom-tier quarterback play. Even with names like Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater under center, Sutton finished ninth in the NFL with 1,635 intended air yards. However, he only recorded receiving yards on less than 50%. With Wilson at quarterback, I am looking to ride Sutton’s over props until they are properly adjusted.

Melvin Gordon Over 38.5 Rushing Yards (-101)

Melvin Gordon has been around the NFL since being drafted 15th overall in 2015. Through his entire eight year career Gordon, 62.5 rushing yards per game on an average of 15 carries per game. In a reduced role in Denver, Gordon has still managed to rush for 60.9 yards per game averaging 4.6 yards per carry. At that rate, Gordon only needs to see nine carries to eclipse 38.5 rushing yards tonight. Gordon has managed nine carries in 26 of his last 28 (92.9%) of his games. More importantly, Gordon has ran for over 38.5 rushing yards in nine of his last ten (90.0%) regular season games. Despite an increased role for Javonte Williams and stout 49ers’ rush defense, I project that Gordon will see enough volume at a great enough efficiency to hit the over.

Deebo Samuel Anytime TD Scorer (+120)

The San Francisco 49ers offense runs through Deebo Samuel. Last season, Samuel recorded 14 total touchdowns with eight rushing and just six receiving. It was rumored during the offseason that part of Samuel’s contract disgruntlement involved displeasure with being utilized as a quasi-running-back. However, two games into the season Samuel has 12 carries for 105 rushing yards and a touchdown. Needless to say, Samuel’s usage in 2022 will likely reflect 2021. On top of that, a season-ending injury to quarterback Trey Lance has put Jimmy Garoppolo back under center. With an offense almost entirely unchanged, there is no reason Samuel won’t perform as the same weapon he was last season. Having scored in seven of his last ten games, I like Deebo Samuel to record a touchdown in Sunday Night Football.
