NFL Week 5 Odds, Picks & Predictions: Texans vs. Jaguars

The early season darlings of the NFL, Jacksonville, takes on a division foe in Houston. They’ve ridden this start on an opportune defense that has specialized in getting big turnovers when needed. They’re the better team in this matchup but early season variance leads me to believe this game could be closer than the spread of -7.

Houston has struggled offensively, but the recent breakout of rookie RB Dameon Pierce helped them move the ball effectively against the Chargers in week 4. He could be a weapon against a Jaguars run defense that is just around league average per DVOA.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars have shown an ability to shoot themselves in the foot on the offensive end. If they don’t play a clean game, expect Houston to make this one uncomfortable.
