Goc, Rinne lead Predators in shutout of Habs

Nov 19, 2010 - 5:00 AM Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Marcel Goc scored two goals and Pekka Rinne made 30 saves to record his second shutout of the season, as the Nashville Predators beat the Montreal Canadiens, 3-0, at the Bell Centre.

Francis Bouillon and Kevin Klein both had two assists for the Predators, who have won three of their last four games.

"We managed everything out of each zone, they had a lot of shots but we kept their second and third chances to a minimum," Goc said. "We trust in our goalie to make the first save, and he was great for us tonight. We made smart plays in our zone and we supported him better and took the puck out and moved it forward."

Carey Price stopped 27 shots for Montreal, which was vying for its fifth consecutive victory.

"We just weren't ready to play and obviously it showed," said Montreal captain Brian Gionta.

The Predators grabbed a 1-0 lead when Goc accepted a Bouillon pass and slid a backhander past the left pad of Price at the 1:19 mark of the second period.

Cal O'Reilly drove the crease and tapped in Steve Sullivan's pass behind Price to make it 2-0 at 8:55 of the third period. Goc struck again at 11:17, beating Price with a screened shot from the high slot.
