Third period burst carries Stars past Preds

Dec 29, 2010 - 8:02 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Andrew Raycroft made 44 saves and the Dallas Stars scored three unanswered goals to end the game in a 4-2 win over Nashville.

Loui Eriksson, Mark Fistric and Krystofer Barch scored the third-period goals for Dallas, which stopped a two-game losing streak. Steve Ott also tallied for the Stars in the first period.

Fistric and Barch netted their first goals of the season, something Stars head coach Marc Crawford saw as an omen.

"Any time you get two unlikely guys to score goals for you in Fistric and Barch, you should win," he said. "It was very fitting that we did. It took a little something from everybody."

Raycroft allowed goals in the second and third periods, but stopped all 16 shots he faced in a scoreless first.

Colin Wilson scored both goals for the Predators, who have lost five straight, matching their longest losing streak of the year, on the heels of a nine-game stretch where they went 8-0-1.

Pekka Rinne allowed four goals on 21 shots, including the final three goals on 10 shots in the third period.

Nashville was ahead 2-1 after Wilson's goal 32 seconds into the final stanza, but Eriksson tied the game at 1:44 when he got behind the defense and beat Rinne up high and to the stick side.

Fistric gave Dallas the lead for good with a wrister from just inside the blue line at 8:18 that might have had no prayer of going in if Rinne wasn't out of position from playing the puck behind the net.

Barch scored midway through the period on a rebound in front of the net.

"Momentum switches so fast," said Nashville captain Shea Weber.

Ott scored from just outside the crease into a wide-open net at 4:39 of the second period and Wilson tied the game at 1-1 on a power play with a minute remaining in the stanza, netting a backhand through traffic in front.

The Stars had lost three of their last four in Nashville entering the game...Dallas was 0-for-4 on the power play, while Nashville went 1-for-6.
