Ducks handle Flyers

Jan 1, 2011 - 8:25 AM Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Jason Blake and Lubomir Visnovsky both scored twice, as the Anaheim Ducks handled the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-2, at the Honda Center.

Bobby Ryan also lit the lamp for the Ducks, who have won two in a row and three of five overall. Jonas Hiller made 35 saves.

"He came up big," Blake said of Hiller. "We knew [the Flyers] played last night, we just wanted to jump on them right away, but we knew they were going to get their chances. [Hiller] shut the door and played outstanding."

Anaheim learned on Friday that forward Ryan Getzlaf will be out indefinitely with multiple nasal sinus fractures.

Jeff Carter had a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who have lost three of four since a five-game winning streak. Andreas Nodl also scored.

Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 22-of-27 shots for Philadelphia, which has allowed 20 goals over its last four games.

"We had breakdowns and they took advantage, which is a good testament to them being ready," said Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn.

The Ducks drew first blood at the 5:10 mark of the first period. Toni Lydman made a nice pass to a streaking Blake, whose backhander on a breakaway made it 1-0.

Visnovsky gave Anaheim a 2-0 lead at the 3:58 mark of the second. Teemu Selanne whiffed on a shot from the slot, but Visnovsky was there to fire a wrister past Bobrovsky.

The Ducks scored on the power play exactly two minutes later for a 3-0 margin. Joffrey Lupul's shot from the bottom of the right circle set up a rebound for Blake, who chipped the puck into the back of the net.

Following a timeout, Philadelphia got on the board at the 8:15 mark of the middle stanza. Matt Carle slid a pass to the left circle for Nodl, whose slapper beat Hiller.

Carter's 16th goal of the season cut the gap to 3-2 at the 3:30 mark of the third.

The Ducks responded just more than two minutes later. Ryan gathered the puck at the right circle and fired a wrister past Bobrovsky for a 4-2 margin.

Visnovsky scored his 100th career goal with 3:10 left to account for the final margin.
