Pyatt lifts Coyotes past St. Louis

Jan 11, 2011 - 7:30 AM St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Taylor Pyatt scored the go-ahead goal with 3:12 remaining in regulation, and the Phoenix Coyotes rallied to beat the St. Louis Blues, 4-3, at Scottrade Center.

Matt D'Agostini and Brad Winchester had scored 20 seconds apart early in the third period to put St. Louis ahead 3-2, but the Coyotes pulled even when Kyle Turris beat Jaroslav Halak with a wrister from the high slot midway through the frame.

Phoenix seized the lead as Pyatt slipped the puck behind Halak on a wraparound.

"I was actually looking to make a pass out front, but I saw I had some room to step out. I just tried to jam the puck as hard as I could and it went through [Halak's] legs," recalled Pyatt.

Jason LaBarbera made 33 saves for Phoenix, which has won three of its last four games.

Halak stopped 29 shots for the Blues, who have dropped four in a row after finishing 2010 with five straight victories.

"There's a fine line between winning and losing and right now we're on the wrong side of it," Blues defenseman Eric Brewer said.

David Backes took a backhand pass from D'Agostini and fired a snap shot past LaBarbera to give the Blues a 1-0 lead with 1:07 left in the first period.

Phoenix tied it when Lauri Korpikoski scored on a redirection at the 6:39 mark of the middle stanza. Lee Stempniak beat Halak on a breakaway to give the Coyotes a 2-1 lead at 9:15 of the second period.
