Richards lifts Stars over Hawks in SO

Feb 12, 2011 - 5:48 AM Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Brad Richards scored the winner in the shootout as the Dallas Stars rallied to take a 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at American Airlines Center.

In the second round of the shootout, Richards buried a wrister past Marty Turco to give Dallas the advantage. After Patrick Sharp missed the net, Mike Ribeiro sealed the win when he lifted a forehand over Turco.

Stephane Robidas, Richards and Brenden Morrow all scored for the Stars, who had dropped six of seven coming into the contest. Kari Lehtonen stopped 23 shots in the win.

"We were going through a patch there where it wasn't too much fun," said Richards. "Then we go down 3-0 in front of a sold-out building and it wasn't too pretty for a bit, but we knew if we kept plugging away we could come back."

Patrick Kane and a goal and two assists while Sharp and Brent Seabrook each lit the lamp for the Blackhawks, who have dropped three of four. Turco made 32 saves in the loss.

Chicago had scored three times in the first period to take a commanding lead, but didn't score again as Dallas began its comeback late in the second.

Robidas got things started when he grabbed a clearing attempt at the right boards, skated behind the net and flung the puck past Turco with 4:01 left in the frame.

On the power play in the waning moments of the middle frame, Richards used a big blast from the top of the right circle that went through a screen set up by Morrow and sailed into the net with five seconds left in the frame.

Just 47 seconds into the third, Morrow tied the game at 3-3 when he knocked the airborne puck into the net as he was falling down in front for his 24th goal of the year.

Kane scored 3:39 into the game when he picked off a pass in the high slot and lasered a wrister into the left corner. Seabrook scored just 31 seconds later when his one-timer from the slot found the back of the net.

Sharp's power-play marker on a backdoor tap-in from the left side made it a 3-0 game with 7:04 left in the first.
