Kiprusoff, Flames blank Blues again

Mar 2, 2011 - 6:44 AM St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Miikka Kiprusoff stopped all 25 shots he faced for his sixth shutout of the season, as the Calgary Flames crushed the St. Louis Blues, 6-0, at Scottrade Center.

Jarome Iginla posted two goals and two assists for Calgary, which has won two straight -- both in the form of a shutout against the Blues in this home-and- home set -- and earned at least one point for the sixth time in its last seven games (5-1-1).

Alex Tanguay notched a goal and two assists, while David Moss, Robyn Regehr and Niklas Hagman also scored in the win.

Ben Bishop yielded all six goals on 29 shots for the Blues, who have dropped five of their last six games.

Tanguay's 17th goal opened the scoring with 1:40 remaining before the first intermission. A turnover by Blues defenseman Barret Jackman -- caused by the strong forechecking of Iginla -- led to a pass to Tanguay in the low slot and he beat Bishop from the lower left side with a wrister.

Iginla's first goal of the game and 26th of the season made it 2-0 at the 4:59 mark of the third. Brendan Morrison, who had three assists in the contest, held control down the right-wing side on a 2-on-1 and he passed across the slot for Iginla, whose one-timer from the left circle lit the lamp.

"We seemed to get some momentum with each goal, and it carried us forward as the game went on," said Iginla. "I really liked our team effort tonight."

Less than two minutes later, the Flames pushed their lead to three with a power-play goal when Mark Giordano's shot from the left point was deflected home by Moss from in front. The play was reviewed because Moss' stick was practically even with the height of the crossbar when he deflected the puck, but the goal stood.

"We started to unravel after Moss got that tip goal," said Bishop. "We need to play better when are down by a few goals."

With 9:12 to go in regulation, Iginla scored again on a one-timer -- this one was from the right side of the slot during a 3-on-2 rush.

Regehr tallied at the 13:58 mark to turn the game into a laugher before Hagman's 11th goal in the final seconds capped the scoring.
