Ducks even series with Preds

Apr 16, 2011 - 6:20 AM Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry each had a goal and two assists as the Anaheim Ducks survived to take a 5-3 win over the Nashville Predators in Game 2 of a Western Conference quarterfinal set.

Bobby Ryan scored twice while Teemu Selanne also had a goal for the Ducks, who evened this best-of-seven series after dropping a 4-1 decision in Game 1.

Ray Emery got the start in place of Dan Ellis, who was pulled in the third period of Wednesday's game after giving up four goals on 24 shots. Emery made 31 stops Friday.

Shea Weber had a goal and an assist while Patric Hornqvist and Joel Ward each scored for the Predators, who will look to take the series lead back in front of the home crowd for Game 3 on Sunday.

Pekka Rinne, who made 27 stops in the Game 1 victory, was tagged for four goals on 27 shots on Friday.

"We are going to have to make a few adjustments," said Nashville head coach Barry Trotz. "There were a few things that we picked up. After the first period I thought we stabilized the game pretty good."

Skating on a 5-on-3 advantage, the Ducks scored 5:24 in when Saku Koivu threw a pass from the right to the left and Perry one-timed it home.

Still on the power play, Selanne scored 38 seconds later when he snapped home a loose puck in the slot for the 37th playoff goal of his career.

"It was huge and it set the tone for the game," said Ryan on the power plays. "It gave us a little bit of a comfort level to roll with throughout that first period. They came back and threw everything they had at us."

Weber, who had a goal waived off in the first, made it a 2-1 game 4:29 into the second when his wrister from the left side found the back of the net.

The Ducks regained their two-goal edge just under three minutes later when a chip shot at the left point by Getzlaf saw Ryan tap home the rebound in front. Getzlaf added another one at 15:54.

The Preds made it a 4-2 game 90 seconds into the third period on the power play when Hornqvist finished off a nice passing sequence in front for his first career playoff goal.

Just under 10 minutes later, Nashville made it a one-goal game when Martin Erat held the puck behind the net and threw it out front for a one-timer by Ward.

Nashville got Rinne out of the net for the extra attacker, but Ryan sealed the win with an empty-netter in the final minute.
