Weise, Pacioretty help Canadiens top Bruins
Feb 9, 2015 - 3:49 AM Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dale Weise and Max Pacioretty each had a goal and an assist as the Montreal Canadiens completed a four-game season sweep of the Boston Bruins with a 3-1 victory on Sunday.Andrei Markov also scored and Carey Price made 34 saves for the Canadiens, who were coming off a 6-2 win over New Jersey on Saturday.
Tuukka Rask stopped 31-of-33 shots and David Pastrnak supplied the lone goal for Boston, which has not won a regular season home game against Montreal since Jan. 12, 2012.
After neither team lit the lamp in the first period, Montreal struck quickly in the second. Pacioretty spun around at the left circle and sent the puck on net. Weise gathered the pass at the side of the cage and backhanded it into an open net 38 seconds into the frame.
Pacioretty added a quick strike of his own off a 2-on-0 just 56 seconds into the final stanza after Bruins defensemen Dougie Hamilton and Zdeno Chara collided in the offensive zone. He took Weise's lead pass through the neutral zone and wristed a shot past Rask for a 2-0 game.
"That's my bad," Chara said about the goal. "I misread it and it ended up costing us."
The Bruins made it a one-goal game with 4:31 left in regulation. Price made an initial blocker save, but after a scramble in front, Pastrnak swatted a bouncing puck on net. Price appeared to have the stopped the shot, but video review showed that the puck crossed the goal line.
Boston pulled Rask with over a minute to play, but Markov sent the puck on the vacated cage from the Canadiens' blue line with 31 seconds remaining to seal the win.
