Bruins edge Hurricanes in OT

Mar 30, 2015 - 2:37 AM Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - David Pastrnak scored with 37 seconds left in overtime to give the Boston Bruins a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.

Carl Soderberg skated the puck in down the right wing and from the corner he sent a backhand, no-look pass to the left wing where it found Pastrnak, who one-timed a low shot between the pads of Anton Khudobin for the win.

"I was trying to shoot high because the goalie was coming from the other side," said Pastrnak about the goal. "It went low and it was in."

Ryan Spooner had the other goal and Tuukka Rask made 30 stops for the Bruins, who have won their past two.

Boston has 89 points on the season and moved three up on Ottawa for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Nathan Gerbe had the only goal of the game for the Hurricanes, who had a two- game winning streak snapped. Khudobin finished with 28 stops.

"I thought we matched their intensity today, if not exceeded it at times," said Carolina head coach Bill Peters. "They're a very good team, well-coached. We had our looks in the third. We hit a few posts, they hit a few posts and both goaltenders were good. I thought it was a really high-end game at this time of the year."

The Bruins scored just 2:21 in as Pastrnak skated the puck into the Carolina end down the right side and found Spooner trailing in the slot. Spooner used a wrister to get the puck in for his seventh of the season.

Carolina tied the game with just 22 seconds remaining in the second period as Chris Terry brought the puck in down the right wing and passed it to the slot for Gerbe, who put it high for his eighth goal of the season.
