Second-period burst helps Ducks fend off Oilers
Dec 13, 2014 - 5:21 AM Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Palmieri and Ryan Getzlaf scored in a 44-second span in the opening minute of the second period, and Anaheim went on to defeat Edmonton by a 4-2 count at Rexall Place.Sami Vatanen and Nate Thompson also lit the lamp for the Ducks, who swept the home-and-home set and recorded a victory by more than one goal for the first time since Oct. 24. Anaheim claimed a 2-1 decision on Tuesday.
Frederik Andersen won thanks to 21 saves.
Tyler Pitlick and Jeff Petry also tallied for the Oilers, who have dropped three in a row and 14 of 15. Viktor Fasth was pulled after allowing two goals on 11 shots to take the loss. Ben Scrivens stopped 7-of-8 shots the rest of the way.
