Henrik Sedin, Morrison lead Canucks over Ducks

Sep 25, 2006 - 3:12 AM VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- Henrik Sedin and Brendan Morrison scored shootout goals to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-3 preseason victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

After Ryan Shannon gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead in the shootout, the Canucks tied it when Sedin backhanded the puck over goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov's left shoulder. Vancouver went ahead when Morrison slid a backhander between Bryzgalov's legs.

Canucks netminder Roberto Luongo preserved the victory when he stopped Bobby Ryan's shot from the slot with his right pad.

Anaheim's Ryan Getzlaf, who finished tied for ninth among NHL rookies in power-play goals last season, scored at 9:36 of the third period to tie the game at 3-3 and force overtime.

Daniel Sedin scored two power-play goals, giving the Canucks a 1-0 lead 3:13 into the first period and a 3-2 advantage at 5:49 of the second.

Jan Bulis scored the other Vancouver goal, while Shannon and Tim Brent tallied for Anaheim.

Luongo, acquired in the trade involving Todd Bertuzzi this summer, stopped 23 of 26 shots.

Bryzgalov, whose scoreless mark last spring of 249 minutes, 15 seconds was the second-longest shutout streak in NHL playoff history, stopped 30 of 33 shots.

Scott Niedermayer, Teemu Selanne and Chris Pronger did not suit up for Anaheim.
