Ducks hope for bounce-back effort against Stars

Nov 16, 2010 - 3:50 PM (Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks had a lengthy winning streak halted their last time out, but will try to bounce back when they visit the rival Dallas Stars tonight at American Airlines Center.

The Ducks had won six in a row prior to Sunday's overtime loss in Chicago. Anaheim has still yet to lose a game in regulation this month, sporting a 6-0-1 mark in November after going 4-7-1 in October.

Dallas, meanwhile, has lost three straight games and hasn't played since dropping a 4-2 decision in Anaheim on Friday. The Ducks have won both meetings against the Stars this season and have taken four of six overall in the series. The clubs have split the last eight games in Dallas.

Anaheim lost Sunday's test when Viktor Stalberg redirected a Duncan Keith slapshot past Jonas Hiller with 27.8 seconds remaining in overtime, lifting the Blackhawks to the 3-2 win.

Corey Perry scored both Anaheim goals, but it wasn't enough as Anaheim failed in its attempt to tie a franchise record for consecutive wins.

"We didn't play the way we really wanted to play, and we haven't played that way in awhile," Perry said. "We got a point out of it, and we have to take the positive out of it."

Hiller stopped 40-of-43 shots in defeat and was starting in net just one day after receiving four stitches above his left eye. The Ducks top goaltender suffered the injury after taking a shot off his mask in practice on Saturday.

The Ducks, who will complete a three-game road trip tomorrow in Minnesota, are just 3-6-1 as the visiting team this season.

Anaheim forward Todd Marchant sat out Sunday's game with an upper-body injury and is questionable for tonight's game. Ducks defenseman Sheldon Brookbank has sat out the last three games with a hamstring injury and is also questionable this evening.

Dallas is opening a three-game homestand tonight after going 0-3-0 on its recent road trip that ended Friday in Anaheim. The Stars are 5-3-0 as the host this year and have won their last three games in Big D.

Bobby Ryan scored a pair of goals in the third period to lead the Ducks to the 4-2 decision over the Stars last week. Brandon Segal and Brad Richards scored for the Stars in Friday's loss, while Kari Lehtonen turned aside 33-of-36 shots.

The Stars haven't lost four in a row since a seven-game slide from March 17-30, 2009.
