Ducks hope to rebound in Minnesota

Nov 17, 2010 - 4:22 PM (Sports Network) - Coming off their first regulation loss of November, the Anaheim Ducks finish up a three-game road trip tonight with a stop in Minnesota to battle the Wild at Xcel Energy Center.

The Ducks had a six-game winning streak halted with an overtime loss in Chicago on Sunday, then dropped a 2-1 regulation setback in Dallas last night. It was Anaheim's first regulation loss since Oct. 30 and dropped the club to just 3-7-1 on the road this year. By comparison, the Ducks are 7-1-1 at home.

Jonas Hiller made 24 saves and Dallas' game-winning goal in the third period just crossed over the blue line, needing to be confirmed by video replay. Corey Perry tallied the lone goal in the loss, his ninth of the season.

Perry has nine goals and 16 points in 18 career games against the Wild.

Center Todd Marchant returned to the lineup after missing one game with an upper-body injury.

The Wild return home after splitting a four-game road trip. They were outscored 7-2 in back-to-back losses before recording a 4-1 victory over Tampa Bay on Sunday.

John Madden, Cal Clutterbuck and Antti Miettinen all scored in the first period and Martin Havlat assisted on three goals, including Madden's game- winning tally.

"It was a great play," Madden said. "A quick give-and-go and another one back of the net, [Havlat] made an unbelievable pass. I was surprised he was able to get it on my tape from how far behind he was. That's Marty's game. Hopefully, I can compliment him a little bit and help him out. Maybe we can work together a little bit more and produce some more 5-on-5 goals."

Eric Nystrom also scored and Niklas Backstrom made 37 saves for the Wild, who play four of their next five at home and are 5-3-1 as the hosts this year.

Though Clutterbuck is likely to play tonight despite an upper-body injury, defenseman Brent Burns will miss his second contest as he wraps up a two-game suspension for an unintentional hit to the face of Florida's Steve Bernier on Friday that broke Bernier's orbital bone.

Havlat has just one goal on the season, but does lead the Wild with 12 assists. He has a pair of goals and nine helpers in 16 career games versus the Ducks.

The Ducks went 2-0-2 versus the Wild last year, losing both games in Minnesota beyond regulation. Minnesota has won four of six and eight of the past 13 meetings between the clubs, taking three straight and four of five at Xcel Energy Center.
