Stars shoot for home-and-home sweep in St. Louis

Nov 27, 2010 - 4:24 PM (Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars will aim for a home-and-home sweep tonight, when they visit the St. Louis Blues for the finale at Scottrade Center.

The Stars hosted the Blues Friday evening at the American Airlines Center and recorded a 3-2 regulation win. Mike Ribeiro scored the go-ahead goal with 3:19 left in regulation, lifting the Stars to the home victory over St. Louis.

Jamie Benn tallied a shorthanded equalizer and set up Ribeiro's score for the Stars, who have won two in a row and are 4-1-1 in their last six games. Brad Richards also scored, while Kari Lehtonen made 25 saves in the victory.

"We persevered as a team, I think we're starting to grow a little bit," said Stars head coach Marc Crawford. "We're not opening it up too soon, we stayed with the game long enough tonight, we got some fortunate bounces -- but we worked for them, too. Very pleased with the two points, as should our guys be."

Andy McDonald netted both goals for the Blues, who had won three straight before Friday's loss. Jaroslav Halak turned aside 19 shots in the setback.

The Stars entered the third period trailing by one, but drew even on Benn's unassisted tally at 7:53 of the stanza and then grabbed the lead on Ribeiro's goal.

Dallas is just 4-5-0 away from home this season and ended a four-game road losing streak with a 2-1 win in Ottawa on Wednesday.

The Blues, meanwhile, have yet to lose a regulation game on home ice this season, posting a stellar 8-0-1 record at Scottrade Center.

The Stars are 2-0 against the Blues this year, but tonight's test marks the first meeting in St. Louis. The Blues still have won six of 10 overall in the series and Dallas has lost three of four and seven of its last nine in the Gateway City.
