Pugilist Parros nets two in Ducks' win over Panthers

Dec 2, 2010 - 6:05 AM Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - George Parros posted his first career two-goal game, as the Anaheim Ducks beat the Florida Panthers, 5-3, at Honda Center.

Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry both had a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who have won three straight following a six-game slide. Jonas Hiller made 29 saves in the win.

"I wanted the hat trick for sure," Parros said. "It was great feeling. Glad our line could finally contribute. We can't rely on the top two lines every night. It definitely helps to chip in."

Steve Bernier registered two power-play goals and added an assist in his return to the lineup for Florida. He had missed the last eight games recovering from surgery to repair a broken orbital bone.

"We didn't play well enough to win the game," Bernier said. "There are always some positives. We scored two goals on the power play. We need to focus on playing good 5-on-5 and play the same way on the power play. If we do that, we'll have a lot more chances to win."

Tomas Vokoun was beaten four times on 28 shots.

Kyle Chipchura won a battle for the puck behind the Florida net and dished out front to Parros, who beat Vokoun at the 14:01 mark of the first period.

Getzlaf made it 2-0 at 6:04 of the middle frame before Parros buried his second goal 50 seconds later.

Mike Santorelli put the Panthers on the board at 8:08 of the second period, then Bernier trimmed the deficit to one at 1:20 of the third. The tally snapped Florida's 0-for-37 drought with the man advantage.

Perry, though, restored Anaheim's two-goal lead 55 seconds later.

Bernier stashed a rebound with 1:07 remaining in regulation, but Bobby Ryan hit an empty net inside the final minute to seal the Anaheim victory.

Chipchura collected two assists...The Ducks have won four of the last five meetings...Anaheim improved to 5-1-1 against Eastern Conference teams this season.
