Luongo blanks Blackhawks as Canucks win fourth straight

Dec 4, 2010 - 6:12 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Roberto Luongo was sharp between the pipes, stopping all 32 shots he faced in Vancouver's 3-0 victory over Chicago at the United Center.

Luongo recorded his second shutout of the season and 53rd of his career.

"A lot of things have to go right for you to get a shutout. The guys have to play well in front of you and they did that tonight," Luongo said.

Henrik Sedin, Tanner Glass and Christian Ehrhoff each had a goal for the Canucks, who have strung together four consecutive wins on the heels of an 0-3-1 slide during which they were outscored 17-7.

Marty Turco, making his first start since November 24 at San Jose, made just 15 saves for the Blackhawks, who were shooting for a fourth straight win.

Chicago forward Patrick Sharp saw his goal-scoring streak come to an end at five games.

Glass pounced on a loose puck outside the crease to put Vancouver on the board at the 11:18 mark of the middle stanza.

While on a power play, Ehrhoff beat Turco with a screened wrister from the top of the right circle to make it 2-0 at 5:06 of the third period.

Sedin buried the rebound after his twin brother, Daniel, was denied on a breakaway with 4:25 remaining.

"We really didn't generate much in the third, but I liked how we played for 40 (minutes)," said Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville.

Game Notes

The Canucks have outscored opponents 20-5 during their current win streak...Daniel Sedin collected two assists...The Blackhawks have eight regulation losses at home this season, matching their total from 2009-10.
