Steen's two goals lifts Blues over Canucks

Dec 6, 2010 - 8:39 AM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Alexander Steen registered two goals, including the game-winner, and set up another to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena.

Matt D'Agostini also lit the lamp for the Blues, who snapped a five-game winless streak. Jaroslav Halak stopped 21 shots to pick up the victory -- St. Louis' first since November 24.

"Three goals -- that's something we haven't gotten in a while," said D'Agostini. "We just gotta keep doing what we've been doing. We've got guys who can put the puck in the net."

Jannik Hansen and Kevin Bieksa found the back of the net for Vancouver, which was vying for its fifth straight win. Roberto Luongo made 25 saves in defeat.

With the teams deadlocked at two, Steen collected a loose puck following a faceoff and whipped a backhander that beat Luongo on the glove side at the 6:11 mark of the third period.

Near the midway point of the frame, Blues forward David Backes received a holding-the-stick penalty, but the Canucks couldn't convert on the power play. Vancouver finished 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

Steen put St. Louis on the board when he buried the rebound of a D'Agostini shot 4:13 into the contest. Hansen tied the game at 11:55 of the first period.

D'Agostini and Bieksa traded goals in the middle stanza.
