Lindback's first career shutout gets Preds past Panthers

Dec 12, 2010 - 8:51 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Anders Lindback stopped 22 shots for the first shutout of his career as the Nashville Predators took a 3-0 win over the Florida Panthers.

Ryan Suter had a goal and an assist while Shea Weber and Joel Ward also lit the lamp for the Predators, who have won five of their last six.

Tomas Vokoun stopped 24-of-26 shots for the Panthers, who had won three straight coming in.

Just 1:14 in, Nashville scored the only goal it needed. Martin Erat received a pass right as he entered the Florida zone down the right end and from the circle he fed it over to Suter, who blew a wrister past Vokoun for his first goal of the season.

With 3:11 to play in the first, the Predators took a 2-0 lead as Suter sent a pass from behind the right side of the net to the right circle where Weber one-timed it home.

Lindback stopped six shots in the first period then turned aside six in the second period.

"The more he plays, he's just settling in really well," Predators head coach Barry Trotz said of Lindback. "Thought the guys did a good job, were very workmanlike, good a good start, played very disciplined. They wanted to help him get a shutout."

The Swede then stopped 10 in the final period and Ward added an empty-net power-play goal with 54 seconds to play to account for the final score.
