Nashville continues home dominance of Columbus

Jan 3, 2011 - 4:17 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Shea Weber had a goal and two assists to lead the Nashville Predators to a 4-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Bridgestone Arena.

Patric Hornqvist had a goal and an assist while Nick Spaling and Sergei Kostitsyn each lit the lamp for the Predators, who have won two straight following a five-game slide. Pekka Rinne stopped 19 shots in the win.

R.J. Umberger scored the lone goal for the Blue Jackets, who were riding a three-game winning streak. Steve Mason gave up all four goals on 26 shots.

The Blue Jackets have lost 15 straight games in Nashville dating back to April 3, 2006.

Trailing by a goal to start the second period, Nashville tied the game at 2:59 on Shea Weber's slap shot.

Weber had the primary assists on the next two goals as the Predators surged ahead.

The first came at the 13:51 mark when Weber snapped a wrister from the right circle that Mason made a stop on, but Nick Spaling was in front to sweep home the rebound.

Just three minutes later, Weber blasted another shot on net that saw Hornqvist sweep it in as he was falling to the ice from the left side for a 3-1 advantage.

Nashville took a 4-1 lead 5:53 into the third on Sergei Kostitsyin's eighth goal of the season.

Umberger's 13th goal of the season gave the Blue Jackets the initial lead just 37 seconds into the game, but Columbus couldn't keep the momentum.

"We just sat back (in the last two periods). We didn't get shots through and we didn't box out in front of our net," said Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash. "They came at use harder than in the first period."
