Langenbrunner's PP goal leads Stars over Kings

Jan 18, 2011 - 5:27 AM Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Jamie Langenbrunner celebrated his 1,000th NHL game with a power-play goal that proved to be the winner in Dallas' 2-1 victory over Los Angeles at American Airlines Center.

Loui Eriksson also scored a power-play goal for the Pacific Division-leading Stars, who extended their winning streak to four games. Kari Lehtonen made 23 saves, none bigger than a right pad stop to deny Los Angeles defenseman Jack Johnson on a penalty shot with 52.4 seconds left in regulation.

Justin Williams lit the lamp for the Kings, who were coming off a horrid 2-6-0 homestand. Jonathan Bernier finished with 25 saves in defeat.

Eriksson tied the game at the 11:38 mark of the second period and Langenbrunner tapped in a Brad Richards pass to give Dallas a 2-1 lead with 3:01 remaining in the middle frame.

Los Angeles applied furious pressure late in the third period with Bernier on the bench for an extra skater. The puck sat on the goal line and Dallas defenseman Jeff Woywitka swept it away with his glove. The official, however, ruled Woywitka closed his hand on the puck in the crease, which results in a penalty shot. Johnson was the elected shooter, but he couldn't solve Lehtonen.

"It's one of those plays where you're just reacting, anything can happen. You just want to get [the puck] out as quickly as you can," Woywitka said.

Williams put the Kings on the board at 7:30 of the first period, throwing a backhander towards the net that caromed in off a Dallas player.

Dallas had lost five straight at home to Los Angeles...Eriksson extended his point streak to 10 games (two goals, 10 assists)...Stars defenseman Karlis Skrastins played in his 800th career game.
