Myers beats OT buzzer to lift Sabres past Panthers

Feb 11, 2011 - 8:01 AM Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Tyler Myers scored with 4.5 seconds left in overtime to give the Buffalo Sabres a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers at BankAtlantic Center.

In the fleeting moments of the extra session, Myers gathered the puck in his own end and went skating down the right wing. From the top of the circle, he cranked a shot that beat Tomas Vokoun high and to the short side for the win.

Mike Weber and Thomas Vanek each had a goal while Ryan Miller stopped 24 shots for the Sabres, who have won three straight and five of six.

Marty Reasoner and Steve Bernier each scored for the Panthers, who have dropped five of six. Vokoun made 24 saves in the loss.

"It's frustrating," Bernier said of the loss. "[Myers had] a perfect shot, inside post and it went in."

After a scoreless first period, Buffalo scored halfway through the second when a simple shot from Weber at the right point found its way through traffic and past Vokoun.

Florida, though, tied the game with 1:22 left in the second on the power play when a shot from Jason Garrison in the high slot was tipped in by Bernier.

Buffalo took a 2-1 lead 8:59 into the third when Jason Pominville sent a pass from the deep left boards to the front where Vanek one-timed the puck home.

However, Florida again tied the game just past the midway mark of the third as Reasoner took a pass in the slot and wristed the puck into the net off the right post and in.
