Wild top Ducks on Bouchard's OT goal
Feb 26, 2011 - 6:40 AM Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored with 6.3 seconds left in overtime to give the Minnesota Wild a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center.Anaheim's Dan Ellis had stopped a breakaway moments earlier, but he wasn't so lucky the next time as Bouchard stickhandled to get the pads open and slipped the disc through the five-hole for the win.
Clayton Stoner and John Madden also scored and Antti Miettinen added three assists for the Wild, who have won two of three. Jose Theodore stopped 46 shots in the win.
"We're missing a lot of key guys in the lineup, but I think we are playing our best hockey right now," said Bouchard. "Guys are stepping up their game. We're playing good as a team, so that's what we need from everybody."
Bobby Ryan and Francois Beauchemin had goals for the Ducks, who have dropped their past five games. Ellis, who was acquired on Thursday from Tampa Bay, made 28 stops in the loss.
"We have to look at the positives," said Beauchemin. "We got one point. That is not enough, but we'll take that. We'll have a good practice tomorrow and go back to work on Sunday. We have to take it one game at a time."
Minnesota scored the only goal of the first period on a 2-on-1 break that saw Madden opt to shoot from the inside left circle and he squeezed it into the right corner with 4:31 left in the frame.
Anaheim tied things up near the midway mark of the second on Ryan's 29th goal of the season.
The Wild made it a 2-1 game with 4:57 to play when Stoner left fly with a blast from the left point that beat Ellis cleanly.
However, the Ducks tied the game with two minutes to play as Jason Blake blasted a shot on net from the right wing that was stopped. Beauchemin was in front to tuck in the rebound and send the game to overtime.
