Bruins shut down struggling Senators
Mar 2, 2011 - 4:57 AM Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - Tuukka Rask made 33 saves to record his second shutout of the season, and the Boston Bruins capped a perfect six-game road trip with a 1-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators at Scotiabank Place.Nathan Horton supplied the lone goal for the Bruins, who maintained a six-point lead in the Northeast Division after Montreal topped Atlanta.
"We have so many great players on our team and so much talent," Horton said.
Boston went into its odyssey having lost three straight and four of five.
Craig Anderson stopped 20 shots for Ottawa, which has dropped two of three.
"We felt we played well enough to win that game," said Senators head coach Cory Clouston.
Horton snapped the deadlock 1:43 into the third period. Adam McQuaid fired a shot from the point that Brad Marchand deflected on goal. Anderson made the save, but Horton slammed home the rebound for his third goal in as many games.
The Senators failed to capitalize on two power plays later in the frame. Anderson was then pulled late in regulation, but Ottawa didn't benefit from the extra skater.
