Final - OT
Preds edge Bruins in OT
Mar 18, 2011 - 7:19 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Shea Weber's power-play tally with 1:23 left in overtime sent Nashville past Boston, 4-3, at Bridgestone Arena.David Legwand, Colin Wilson and Sergei Kostitsyn each posted a goal and one assist for the Predators, who have taken three of their last four.
Pekka Rinne got the win after a 35-save performance for Nashville.
Tyler Seguin, Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci tallied for the Bruins, losers in five of their last six.
Tuukka Rask made 27 stops in defeat for Boston, which earned a point for the OT loss but saw their lead in the Northeast Division shrink to three points over Montreal. The Canadiens topped the Lightning in a shootout.
"Tough loss," said Rask. "Got the lead, stuff happened and we lost the game."
On the game-winner, Ryan Suter dished back to Weber at the right point for a blistering shot that beat Rask cleanly high and inside the post.
Seguin opened the scoring less than two minutes in with a wrister from the left wing, then Kostitsyn answered for Nashville less than eight minutes in.
Preds forward Patric Hornqvist was given a major for elbowing and a game misconduct for hitting Seguin in the head with 2 1/2 minutes left in the opening period, but the Bruins failed to connect.
Wilson put the Preds up at 10:59 of the second period, but Krejci drew the B's even just over 2 1/2 minutes later.
Bergeron gave the Bruins a 3-2 edge at 1:42 of the third period, but the Predators rallied to tie just after the midway point.
Martin Erat flew out of the penalty box and broke in on Rask, but the Boston netminder spread out against the left post to stop the chance. The rebound first came to Kostitsyn, who fired it into a Bruins defenseman guarding the open net, but Legwand followed up and hit the still-vacant cage.
