Ducks come from behind to beat Stars in OT

Mar 24, 2011 - 6:12 AM Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Cam Fowler scored 1:42 into overtime to help Anaheim rally for a 4-3 win over Dallas in a contest between Western Conference playoff hopefuls.

The two teams came into the game with 85 points each, but Anaheim scored with 5.4 seconds to play to force overtime then grabbed the extra point in the extra session.

Fowler fed the puck over to Bobby Ryan prior to crossing the blueline. From down low, Ryan passed it from the right to the left and Fowler buried the wrister to give Anaheim 87 points on the season.

The Ducks are now all alone in the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings and are a point ahead of Dallas and two ahead of Calgary.

Teemu Selanne scored to force overtime, Corey Perry had a goal and Lubomir Visnovsky added a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who have won four straight games with the past three wins coming in overtime. Ray Emery made 23 saves in the win.

"Good things happen when you believe in yourself," said Selanne. "Team confidence is always the key. Whether you're up two goals or down two goals, you've gotta believe you'll win."

Trevor Daley, Loui Eriksson and Alex Goligoski each lit the lamp for the Stars, who have dropped four of their last five. Kari Lehtonen made 22 stops.

"We've talked about improving each and every game," said Dallas head coach Marc Crawford. "You know, we're in game 73 here and when we're in game 82 we'll still have things to improve on."

Dallas had taken a 3-2 lead with 6:39 to play when Daley's shot from the right circle was slowed down by Emery, but it retained enough momentum to trickle in.

However, Anaheim tied the game in the waning seconds with Emery pulled as Saku Koivu brought it out front and the puck kicked over to the left where Selanne buried it.

The Ducks scored just 56 seconds into the second on the power play when Visnovsky's slap shot from the left circle found its way home, but Goligoski tied it halfway through the frame on a slap shot from the slot.

Dallas took a 2-1 lead 4:29 into the third as a right circle faceoff win saw Jamie Langenbrunner send a pass from the right corner between the legs of a defender and to the front of the net where Eriksson slipped it home.

However, Anaheim scored just 11 seconds later as Ryan gloved a puck down in the neutral zone, skated down the left wing and fired a backhand pass to the front where Perry deked to the backhand and lifted it into the net.
