Ryan Miller allowed four goals on 22 shots in two periods, while Eddie Lack allowed a goal on 14 shots in the third period.
"We are not good enough right now, we have to get better," Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins said.
The Kings got on the board at 9:43 of the first, as Gaborik sent a pass from the left corner to the front for Alec Martinez, who got a shot on net. The shot was stopped, but Gaborik was there to sneak home the rebound.
It was a 2-0 game five minutes later as Muzzin's wrist shot from the right point sailed into the net for his first of the season.
Los Angeles took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission as Kopitar's wrister from a sharp angle at the left side fooled Miller.
"I think we came out really strong and we just kept our feet moving and kept getting pucks to the net," Toffoli said.
At the midway mark of the second period, the Kings made it a 4-0 game as Martinez threw a shot on net from the high slot that was stopped, but Toffoli was at the left side to stuff home the rebound.
Carter scored on a short breakaway 2:29 into the third, while Higgins' goal with 7:53 to play broke up Quick's shutout bid.
