Getzlaf, Ducks top Oilers

Feb 22, 2015 - 2:47 AM Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Getzlaf scored the game-winning goal midway through the third period and the Anaheim Ducks took down the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 on Saturday.

Francois Beauchemin also scored and John Gibson made 26 saves for the Pacific Division leaders, who have won their first three meetings with the Oilers this season. Kyle Palmieri had a pair of assists.

Teddy Purcell lit the lamp for Edmonton, while Ben Scrivens surrendered both goals on 21 shots.

The Ducks opened the scoring just 45 seconds into the first period. Derek Roy was whistled for a hooking penalty, setting up a Ducks power-play, and on the ensuing faceoff, Palmieri slipped the puck back to Beauchemin for a slap shot that beat Scrivens.

Edmonton knotted the score at a goal apiece early in the second, when Nail Yakupov found Purcell in front for an easy goal.

Getzlaf won it at 12:47 of the third. Cam Fowler skated down the left side and ripped a slap shot that Scrivens stopped, but Getzlaf was there to tap the rebound in to make it 2-1.

Gibson turned aside all 11 shots he faced in the third to preserve the victory.
