Red Wings rally past Sharks

Feb 27, 2015 - 7:20 AM San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Pavel Datsyuk and Luke Glendening scored third-period goals to lift the Detroit Red Wings over the San Jose Sharks, 3-2, on Thursday.

Teemu Pulkkinen also scored for the Red Wings, who snapped a two-game skid. Jimmy Howard made 20 saves.

"I thought we just kept on playing," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "I liked that the guys found a way here."

Matt Irwin and Patrick Marleau scored for the Sharks, who have lost seven in a row at home. Antti Niemi stopped 32-of-35 shots.

"We haven't won our share. I'm not sure if we have a home win in February and that is very troubling," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said.

After failing to score on a four-minute power play, Detroit tied things up at 13:32 of the third. Datsyuk's backhander from the slot got past Niemi.

Glendening put the Red Wings in front at 18:45 when he scored off Gustav Nyquist's pass from behind the net. Glendening made a spin move before roofing a backhander past Niemi.

Howard only needed to make two saves in the third to secure the victory.

Irwin gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead at 7:06 of the first when his shot from the point beat traffic in front and got past Howard.

Pulkkinen's shot from the bottom of the left circle tied the game at 3:53 of the second.

San Jose went back in front at 6:51. Logan Couture's blast from the point deflected off the back boards and Joe Pavelski poked the puck ahead to Marleau, who elevated a shot from close range past Howard.
