Canucks edge Ducks

Mar 10, 2015 - 5:47 AM Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Zack Kassian scored the winning goal with 3:59 to play as the Vancouver Canucks grabbed a 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday.

Bo Horvat scored the other goal while Eddie Lack stopped 29 shots for the Canucks, who have won their last two.

"It's a huge team game right now," said Lack. "The guys are all playing really well as a unit and we're clicking at the right time."

Emerson Etem scored the only goal of the game for the Ducks, who have lost their last two. Frederik Andersen allowed both goals on 16 shots in the loss.

"We played well enough to win, but we didn't take advantage of our chances," said Anaheim center Nate Thompson. "If we play like that, we'll win most nights."

Anaheim nearly went up 2-1 with around 5 1/2 minutes to play when Corey Perry fired a shot on net that was about to cross the goal line, but Lack fell on it. The no-goal call on the ice was confirmed via replay.

Kassian then scored the winner when Dan Hamhuis skated down the left wing and faked a shot before whipping it to the front of the net where Kassian shot it home for his 10th of the season.

Vancouver took a 1-0 lead midway through the first as Horvat's wrister from the right circle found the back of the net for his 11th of the season.

Neither side scored in the second, but the Ducks tied things up in the third at the 8:40 mark.

Cam Fowler dumped the puck low from the left point and Nate Thompson picked it up to the right of the net, firing a pass out front where Etem snapped it in for his fifth of the season.
