Burrows, Canucks top Flyers
Mar 18, 2015 - 5:58 AM Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Alexandre Burrows scored a pair of third- period goals in a 17-second span to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night. The game was tied at 1-1 before Burrows lit the lamp twice to surge the Canucks in front.
Alexander Edler's stretch pass through the middle of the ice hit Daniel Sedin in stride and Sedin dished to Burrows, whose wrister from the right circle beat Steve Mason between his legs.
Following a turnover, Sedin wristed a shot on net from the slot and Burrows put home the rebound to make it 3-1 at 7:01.
Edler and Radim Vrbata also scored for the Canucks, who have won four of their last five games. Eddie Lack stopped 27 shots in the triumph.
"It's always fun to see Burrows score," said Lack.
Michael Raffl tallied the lone goal for Philadelphia, which has dropped six of its last seven games. Mason made 31 saves in defeat.
"You can't make mistakes on the road, especially against a team like this," said Raffl.
After a scoreless opening frame, Philly opened the scoring midway through the second when Claude Giroux flicked a right-circle pass in front to Raffl, who tipped it home.
Edler knotted the contest with a backhander less than four minutes later.
Vrbata added an empty-net goal to cap the scoring in the third.
