Nashville, Edmonton win NHL finals games
Apr 27, 2017 - 6:18 AM Vernon Fiddler struck the winner as the Nashville Predators drew first blood in their Stanley Cup play-off second-round clash with the St Louis Blues.Nashville had swept Chicago 4-0 in the first round and looked on course for a comfortable win in their opener against St Louis when goals from Colin Wilson, PK Subban and Filip Forsberg saw them leading 3-1 heading into the third period.
But the Blues, who had pulled a goal back through Colton Parayko, recovered and drew level at 3-3 through strikes from Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Sobotka.
However, the visitors were to end up leaving Scottrade Center empty handed as Fiddler sealed a 4-3 victory for the Predators with just over five minutes remaining.
The Edmonton Oilers were also victorious in their opening match against the Anaheim Ducks.
The teams were tied at 1-1 after the second period but it was Edmonton who came out on top with a 5-3 triumph, Mark Letestu and Adam Larrson each scoring twice for the Oilers.
