Blues F Steen to miss training camp with hand injury

Sep 20, 2017 - 6:05 PM St. Louis Blues forward Alexander Steen will miss the remainder of training camp after suffering a left hand injury in the team's preseason opener Tuesday night in Dallas.

Steen, 33, will be re-evaluated in three weeks, Blues general manager Doug Armstrong announced Wednesday.

Steen, who is entering his 10th season with the Blues, recorded 51 points (16 goals, 35 assists) in 76 regular-season games in 2016-17.

The 6-foot, 211-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, also appeared in 10 postseason games, tallying three goals and four assists.

For his career, Steen owns 532 points (213 goals, 319 assists) in 822 regular-season games over 12 NHL seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blues.

The Blues are already without forward Zach Sanford, who will miss five to six months after dislocating his left shoulder during training camp, and defenseman Jay Bouwmeester, who has a left ankle fracture and will be re-evaluated in three weeks.

The Blues open their season at Pittsburgh against the defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins on Oct. 4.
