NHL Note - Colorado Avalanche MacKinnon, Nathan
Oct 14, 2017 - 7:17 AM C Nathan MacKinnon left Friday's game against the Anaheim Ducks with an eye injury and will not return. MacKinnon was skating near the Ducks net on a Colorado power play when Anaheim center Derek Grant's stick came up and hit him under his visor. An Avalanche trainer checked him before MacKinnon skated off and to the locker room.
He was ruled out at the start of the second period.
MacKinnon, who appeared in every game last season, has four assists in five games this season.
After the game, coach Jared Bednar said MacKinnon was fine and he expected him to play Saturday in Dallas.
"It looks like he's going to be OK," Bednar said. "He took a stick in the eye and he had some vision problems immediately after, but now things have settled down and it looks like he should be good to go for tomorrow."
No one has shouted yet.
