Sabres recall Fedun, place Josefson on IR

Oct 20, 2017 - 2:27 PM The Buffalo Sabres recalled defenseman Taylor Fedun from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League on Friday after placing forward Jacob Josefson on injured reserve.

Josefson, 26, suffered a lower-body injury in Sunday's game against the Anaheim Ducks and was forced to leave in the second period. He was seen at practice this week in a walking boot on his right foot.

Josefson, 26, has no points in six games this season, averaging 11:01 of time on ice. This is his first year in Buffalo after spending seven seasons with the New Jersey Devils.

The 6-foot-1, 201-pound Fedun, 29, has one assist in three games with Rochester this season after signing a two-year contract extension with the Sabres in June. He appeared in 27 NHL games during the 2016-17 season, recording seven assists and 16 penalty minutes.

Through parts of four NHL seasons, Fedun owns 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) and 20 penalty minutes. In 295 regular-season games throughout his six AHL seasons, he has 156 points (37 goals, 119 assists), adding eight points (four goals, four assists) in 28 playoff contests.

The Sabres host the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night.
