Ducks D Fowler goes down with injury

Oct 21, 2017 - 3:28 AM ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Anaheim Ducks defensemen Cam Fowler, who missed the opening round of last season's playoffs with a right knee injury, appeared to be favoring the same knee after absorbing a hit and going into the boards in the first period of a game against the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night.

Fowler, who signed an eight-year, $52-million contract extension this offseason, skated off the ice with the help of teammates and did not return. He has teamed with Josh Manson to form Anaheim's stop defensive pairing.

The Ducks later tweeted, "Cam Fowler is still under evaluation for a lower-body injury. Further information will be provided when available."

The Ducks have played all seven games to start the season without defensemen Sami Vatanen (shoulder) and Hampus Lindholm (shoulder), though both players have recently practiced and are moving closer to a return, according to coach Randy Carlyle.
