NHL Note - Pittsburgh Penguins Niemi, Antti
Oct 24, 2017 - 7:21 AM G Antti Niemi was placed on waivers Monday. Niemi lost all three starts and sported a bloated 7.49 goals-against average this season -- his first with the Penguins and 10th in the NHL. The 34-year-old Niemi was cut loose two days after another ugly performance in a 7-1 loss at Tampa Bay, although Penguins coach Mike Sullivan absolved the veteran netminder of blame. Niemi won at least 30 games on four occasions -- all with the San Jose Sharks in a span of five seasons from 2010-2015.No one has shouted yet.
