Blues D Bouwmeester set for season debut

Nov 20, 2017 - 10:42 PM Veteran defenseman Jay Bouwmeester was activated from injured reserve Monday, the St. Louis Blues announced.

Bouwmeester fractured his left ankle after getting hit by a puck on the third day of training camp in September.

The 34-year-old is expected to begin his sixth season with St. Louis on Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers. He will be rejoining a team whose 31 points lead the Western Conference.

Last season, the 6-foot-4 Bouwmeester totaled one goal and 15 points in 81 games while being paired with captain Alex Pietrangelo.

In 1,071 regular-season games, Bouwmeester has career totals of 82 goals and 309 assists with the Florida Panthers, Calgary Flames and St. Louis. He was the third overall pick in the 2002 draft by Florida and acquired by St. Louis from Calgary in 2013.
