Blue Jackets' Dubinsky out 6-8 weeks with facial fracture
Dec 13, 2017 - 8:07 PM Columbus Blue Jackets center Brandon Dubinsky will miss six to eight weeks after sustaining an orbital bone fracture in a fight during Tuesday's game, the team announced Wednesday.The Blue Jackets placed Dubinsky on injured reserve Wednesday and recalled fellow forward Jordan Schroeder from the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League.
"At this time, the damage has not affected the function of his eye and long-term vision. He will continue to be monitored closely by our medical team," general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said.
Dubinsky needed to be helped off the ice following a fight with Zack Kassian late in the third period of Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
Dubinsky has recorded three goals, nine assists and 19 penalty minutes in 31 games this season. The 31-year-old Alaskan has scored 144 goals and set up 276 others to go along with 855 penalty minutes in 731 career contests with the New York Rangers and Blue Jackets.
Schroeder, 27, has collected two penalty minutes in six games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has two goals, five assists and six penalty minutes in 13 games with the Monsters.
The Prior Lake, Minn., native owns 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists) and 12 penalty minutes in 150 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks since making his NHL debut in 2012-13. He has 202 points (79 goals, 123 assists) and 84 penalty minutes in 305 career AHL games with Cleveland, Iowa, Utica, Chicago and Manitoba.
Acquired by Columbus from Minnesota on June 23, Schroeder was originally Vancouver's first-round pick (22nd overall) in the 2009 NHL draft.
